Shelter doors and hatches

Steel explosion-proof and gas-tight doors and hatches for shelters, bunkers and security rooms. We offer a range of sizes and load classes — from escape hatches to armoured doors. For every project we help you choose the right load class and mounting solution.

How to choose shelter doors and hatches

Shelter doors are chosen by three criteria: blast-resistance class (bar), gas-tightness and shrapnel protection. The higher the bar class, the stronger the blast wave the door withstands.

Armoured doors (PT and PD series) are built into the wall and filled with concrete — they become part of the load-bearing structure. Steel shelter doors (SO, DU and MD series) are supplied complete with frame and gas seal, so they are faster to install.

Frequently asked questions

What does a door’s "bar" class mean?

It is the blast-wave load the door withstands: the SO-1 door takes 2 bar (200 kN/m²), the DU-III door and SU-III hatch take 4.4 bar, and SU-IV hatches come in versions from 1 up to 9 bar. The required class depends on the project’s requirements.

How do armoured doors differ from steel shelter doors?

Armoured doors (PT and PD series) are filled with concrete after mounting and become part of the wall structure. Steel doors (SO, DU and MD series) are delivered ready-made with frame and seal — faster and easier to install.

Does a shelter need an emergency exit?

It is recommended to plan at least one alternative exit — for example a PD 60×80 escape hatch or an SU-series hatch — so the room can be left even if the main entrance is blocked.
